Gutierrez is the daughter of 1960s matinee idol Eddie Gutierrez and actress Anabelle Rama. She is the sister of the twins Richard and Raymond Gutierrez, who are also actors. Ruffa made various films in the Philippines. She was also involved in some scandals such as Brunei Scandal and the 1994 Metro Manila Film Festival Scam.
She married a Turkish businessman named Yilmaz Bektas in 2002 to whom she had 2 daughters. She now permanently resides in Turkey with her family, though she frequently goes home to the Philippines to do commercials, TV guestings and for vacation. She recently guested in Sugo as Marikma.
