Ryo Ishibashi
Ryo Ishibashi was born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1953. Ishibashi formed a rock band ARB (Alexander Ragtime Band) in 1977. They debuted with a single
Nora-inu in 1978, and the following year they released their first album,
ARB. Since then, they have cut such albums as
Bad News,
Trouble Chudoku,
Sakyu 1945 until they broke up in 1990. Meanwhile, Ishibashi made his debut on screen with Ryudo Uzaki's
Saraba Aibo in 1982. In 1986, he starred in the late Yusaku Matsuda's
A-Homansu. Other notable credits include his starring role in Rokuro Mochizuki's
Another Lonely Hitman (1995), his supporting role in
The Crossing Guard, produced, written and directed by
Sean Penn.
Brother marks his second collaboration with Kitano since
Kid's Return (1996). Ishibashi recently resumed his musical activity and re-formed ARB with an album
Real Life in 1998.
