About Those Daring Young Men In Their Jaunty Jalopies

Screen legend Tony Curtis leads an all-star international cast in this hilarious, romantic and action-packed romp! Set in glorious Monte Carlo, this hugely entertaining follow-up to Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines follows the dashing Schofield (Curtis) as he teams up with the scheming Sir Cuthbert Ware-Armitage (Terry-Thomas) in a zany, winner-take-all car rally beset with scheming competitors, treacherous cliffs - and a very beguiling blonde (Susan Hampshire.) This movie is a perfect companion to Tony Curtis' other auto car race movie, The Great Race. The package shows the aspect ratio as 1.78 widescreen, which would fill the whole screen of a HDTV. The actual ratio shows as it should be having been filmed in Panavision as 2.35:1.

They just don't make movies like this anymore. A great cast of some of the best comedians of all time. Good clean fun which keeps you laughing. I first saw this movie when it came out in theaters and I never get tired of watching it. It makes you forget all your troubles and takes you into the wonderful world of make believe movie magic. rating: 5 QuoteOne of the best slapstick comedies finally on DVDQuote
I've been waiting for years for this to be released on DVD. The old VHS tapes were getting worse every year. This is one of my favorite classic 60s slapstick comedies. Goes together with "The great race", "Those magnificent men in their flying machines" and others.
Brilliant set of actors, fun (slapstick comedy) plot, lots of action - perfect family feature. Peter Cook and Dudley Moore play together as in so many of their movies - just fantastic. Then of course, there's Tony Curtis, Gerd Froebe and Terry-Thomas.
The transfer of the DVD is OKish, good, but not as good as it could have been. It's nowhere near as good as some modern transfers, but maybe the original film material isn't in such prime condition anymore (there's one particular scene where you can see obvious film damage). Nevertheless, since I consider this to be one of the reference slapstick comedy movies, I can live with the quality. Overall, superb movie. Thank you Paramount for bringing this finally to DVD!

I've waited for years for this to come out on DVD as it's one of my favorite movies. However, I can't get the DVD to play in any of my DVD players including the ones on my computers. It won't load at all other than to recognize the title. I can't access the menu or anything. What a dissapointment. It's not worth going through the hassle of trying to return an opened DVD to Amazon so I guess it's going in the trash. Has any one else had this problem with this disk? I'd be willing to purchase it a second time if I could get a working DVD. August 30, 2008

This is a very funny film with a strong cast of characters, lead by Terry Thomas and Tony Curtis and more than ably supported by Eric Sykes, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, Gert Frobe, Susan Hampshire, Walter Chiari and more.

Thomas is at his fiendish best, Curtis is charming, Hampshire gorgeous and Cook and Moore are hilarious.

This is real enjoyable romp.....much better than it's predecessor "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines" and almost as good as "the Great Race"

It was such a pleasant surprise to see this one released...FINALLY !!

Even my kids enjoy it, so the comedy has not lost any of its shine over the decades.

Recommended Highly, Have Fun. August 26, 2008
