A flight of fancy on Hollywood's part, this story is a modern rendition of Dr. Moreau's Island. It imparts modern science into the science fiction, creating a more scientifically plausible story. Unforgettable performance by David Thewlis. Also incorporated is a beautiful screen actress, Fairuza Balk, as well as many other unique characters. If you want accuracy to the book, watch the great older classic. If you want novelty, this is the movie. January 6, 2009

This movie deserves more credit than people and critics give it. Personally, this film has what it takes to become a cult classic. The actors are great, epecially Marlon Brando.

The designs by the late great special effects man Stan Winston are flawless. The creatures of the island are both realistic and creepy. If you're gothic, you'll love this movie, and if not you should see it at least once.

Personally, I suggest that you buy this great cult classic. It's affordable and you'll be entertained over and over again. So...what are you waiting for?! Buy now and enjoy!

Personally, I like this movie. It's creepy and it also entertains the viewer. I thought that character played by Marlon Brando was just perfect. Remember, he was going through a tough time while making this movie.

Sadly, most people ignore this great movie and cast it aside. But not me. I think if you are looking for a entertaining and creepy movie, then this is just for you. My addvice, buy this DVD. It's cheap and it is worth it all the way. December 19, 2008

I found this version of TIODRM pretty entertaining. However, I wasn't quite sure why this film got made. On the surface, it didn't appear to add much to the story that is really new or original. In the final analysis, it seems to have provided both Brando and Kilmer with a perfect vehicle to ham it up. Brando put a pretty good spin on the character of the brilliant scientist gone way off the deep end--he appears to be playing the good Doctor as a flamboyant homosexual. But Val Kilmer is great as his burned out assistant who is slowly losing his grip on reality. In fact, I suspect the only reason Kilmer did this film is because it afforded him a chance to not only work with Brando, but to get away with parodying him on screen while getting paid for it. All in all, worth a look. September 18, 2008

If you enjoy bad movies, you'll love this blight on the resume of Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer. Hey, why not? At least modern B-movies, such as this, have 5.1 sound. I'm pretty sure that this movie is always on in Hell. August 8, 2008
